Richard "Dick" Roberts Sr . passed away shortly after midnight on July 28, 2026, after a long battle with vascular dementia.

Dick committed his life to serving others. Whether fighting fires, arresting bad guys, or later defending his clients, Dick was always looking to help someone in need. Service was a value that Dick never lost, even as his disease progressed. After coming to live with his son and beloved daughter-in-law, Lee and Katie, Dick continued to volunteer at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank daily, logging enough hours to become one of the top 10 volunteers in Columbus for 2 years running.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Dick was at his happiest when he was bear hunting in northern Michigan or trophy fishing in Key West with his friends or Lee. Hockey was another passion of Dick's. He loved watching Lee play and never missed a practice or game. Dick was also a talented glassblower, creating many beautiful works that he sold in a little shop next to his law office. If you have one of his pieces, you can consider yourself lucky.

He is survived by his son, Lee Roberts, his daughter-in-law, Katie Persico, his sister-in-law, Beverly Roberts, his nephew, Ben Roberts and his wife Brooke Roberts and their children John and Macy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and EmaLou Roberts, his brother, John Roberts, and his wife Brenda Roberts.

To remember Dick well, go take a dog for a long walk, put on some Jimmy Buffet, and maybe crack open a Corona with a lime or a Black Label beer if you can find it.
