Herbert Louis "Tim" Cronin, 95, died Wednesday March 16, 2022. Preceded in death by parents Dennis and Cetra Cronin; brothers Joseph E. Cronin and Jerry P. Cronin; sisters Carolyn (Edwards), Geraldine L. (Sony), Martha C. Cronin, and Judith Cronin; nephews Daniel Sony, Christopher Sony, David Cronin, and great niece Amber Riddle. Survived by spouse Janice Bricker of Grove City and brother William D. (Patricia) Cronin of Newington CT. as well as a host of friends and many loving family members, including nieces and nephews Norman D Sony (Frances), David S Sony (Mary), Sheila Gorslene, Linda Riddle, Carol Nicholl, Sue Hillebrand (Tom), Gayla Wolden (Tom), Patrick Edwards (Denise), Dennis Cronin, Brenda Doyle (Doug), Tim Cronin (Mary Beth), Lisa Nan (Allen) and Susan Johnson; many great and great-great Nieces and Nephews, all of whom will remember him fondly and miss him greatly.
Uncle Tim loved his family and his country, serving in the Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the 82 nd Airborne Division. The 82nd Airborne Division, specializing in parachute assault operations, with a U.S. Department of Defense requirement to "respond to crisis contingencies anywhere in the world within 18 hours". A second generation railroad man, he was also an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in Grove City, and a member of the Grove City American Legion post. He gave to many charitable organizations, helping animals, promoting earth preservation, supporting his church as well as the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association. Uncle Tim was also passionate about art, traveling, reading, and history. He was always up for a spirited debate.
Friends may call at Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St. Columbus, Monday, March 21 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass Tuesday, March 22, 11 a.m., Mother of Sorrows Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St. Lockbourne, Ohio.
