Carol Ann (Conroy) McCabe, 75, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2009. Preceded in death by her parents Francis and Margaret Conroy, husband of 52 years John, sons John Jr. and Michael. Survived by son, Brian; and daughters Patricia Watkins, Terri McCabe, Suann (John) Mooney, and Carolyn (Brian) Drury; sisters, Janet Laushell and Frances McKinney of Altoona, PA.; grandchildren, Brian, Devin, Gregory, Brittany, John-Paul, Jack, Sara, Connor, Rick, Parker, Maya, Catherine and Patrick; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Employed first by the Ohio Farm Bureau, then for many years by Columbus Public Schools. Long-time parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; first woman president and director of the board of trustees for the Godman Guild; member of the Harper Valley Mothers' Club; first president of the Harrison West Society. Under her leadership, many family homes were preserved through grants, and Harrison West stayed a neighborhood of families. Carol's family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Westminster Thurber Community Chapel, 717 Neil Ave. Columbus, 43215 (entrance off Collins Ave.) Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Thursday, December 31 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 386 Buttles Ave., Columbus, 43215.
